Glenfiddich 50 Years Review

7

Glenfiddich single malt whisky remains one of the world’s premier whiskies, and their newly released Time Reimagined collection proves their dedication to tradition while being open to innovation. The Amazing fact about Glenfiddich 50 Years Old.

Simultaneous Time was aged for half a century under the careful watchfulness of three Glenfiddich malt masters before it was packaged into an original container designed by data artist Manuel Jimenez Garcia.

Cost

Glenfiddich, one of the world’s highest-awarded single malt Scotches, is undoubtedly an exquisite whisky, created through vatting two exceptional casks filled in 1955 and 1957 and only available through select hotels or retail locations – making it one of the rarest whiskies on the market today.

Glenfiddich whisky is produced at their distillery in Dufftown, Scotland, and features 43 distinctive copper pot stills that are tended by skilled craftspeople. Glenfiddich also uses only one water source and traditional wooden washbacks for fermentation. Since 2000, they have won more awards than any other single malt distillery and were the first recipient of two major international competitions’ “gold” award for their whisky.

Glenfidich Single Malt Whisky represents the pinnacle of over 200 years of whisky production at Glenfidich. Crafted with skill by experts across generations and innovatively blended to meet modern tastes. A beautiful testament to William Grant, its long, smooth finish reminds us how linked Time and liquid are. Enjoyed only by the select few who can experience its beauty!

Rarity

Glenfiddich released their “Time Re: Imagined” series earlier this year and contains an exquisite 50-year-old expression that is hard to come by. Part of a more significant release featuring 30- and 40-year-old single malts, 500 bottles have been produced, each with lockable presentation cases that feature bottle numbers engraved inside so they can be identified easily.

Glenfiddich and artist Simon Berger joined forces to produce this rare whisky, making history by having their oldest ever release to date – aged whiskies laid down between July 17, 1937, and December 14, 1939, were married together in neutral vat for 50 years before finally being bottled for sale.

This limited-edition release of Scotch whiskey is an outstanding collector’s item. Offered only three luxury limited-edition releases by this acclaimed Scotch brand this month, it fetched $50,000 at auction in New York City.

Other releases include the 30-Year-Old (representing Suspended Time when a Malt Master temporarily stopped its maturation) and 50-Year-Old, both aged for fifty years under three generations of malt masters, with each whisky packaged in an elegant decanter designed by Glasstorm and housed within an aluminum box handcrafted by data artist Manuel Jimenez Garcia.

Packaging

Glenfiddich 50 Years is an award-winning single malt whisky and an exquisite gift option, featured in an elegant presentation box and case. A favorite among whisky enthusiasts worldwide, it has earned several prestigious accolades from professional whiskey critics worldwide.

The bottle is composed of recycled glass and has a gold crest on its label. The packaging also contains tasting notes and background information about the distillery. Available only at luxury whisky bars or select retailers such as Dan Murphy’s.

Though aged, this whisky remains exceptionally smooth with no detectable smokiness. The aroma is exquisite: orange peel and clementine mingle with notes of Madeira cake and muscovado sugar, while its long-lasting finish features an intoxicating sweetness mellowed out into deep oak tannins and sun-dried vanilla for a deliciously decadent experience.

Glenfiddich’s rare whisky was first produced in 1959 and aged fifty years in Speyside warehouses before two fifty-year-old casks were joined and placed into a neutral vat for further aging. Starting in 2009, 50 bottles per year have been released from this vat until finally, in 2017, there will be only one final bottle left which is set to be bottled using Meteorological Data Mapping; its distinctive form is inspired by weather patterns that affect its aging process.

Tasting notes

Glenfiddich 50 Years is an exquisite spirit that represents the pinnacle of Glenfiddich’s whisky-making history. Crafted from two casks dating back to 1955 and 1957, this rare expression spent fifty years maturing in Warehouse 8. As such, its production reflects over a century of expert craft from five generations spanning five generations while being innovative as ever. Limited in production, each bottle comes decorated in Scottish silver before a hand-sewn leather case for safekeeping.

Packaging for this special whisky release draws upon Glenfiddich’s archive. Glenfiddich commissioned renowned contemporary artist Simon Berger to design an image of their distillery that would serve as the focal point of this limited-edition release, paying homage to their long tradition of using copper stills.

Last week at auction, one bottle of rare Glenfiddich 50-year-old whisky sold for an astonishing record-setting price. This staggering figure can be attributed to its age, scarcity, and exclusivity; only two other 50-year-old expressions had previously been released since its introduction by Glenfiddich; it forms part of its Time Re: Imagined series alongside 30 and 40-year-old faces.
